MongoDB Local 2024
First time in London! First time meeting MongoDB fellows! Book signing! Not one, but two books! It hardly gets any better.
My First MongoDB Local - London 2024
My first MongoDB Local event took place in London in 2024, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. As someone who had been writing about MongoDB for some time, finally attending an official event and meeting the community in person felt like a milestone.
The Sessions
The talks covered a wide range of topics—from performance optimization and Atlas features to real-world case studies from companies building at industrial scale. Whether it was a deep dive into aggregation pipelines or discussions around schema design patterns, every session offered something valuable to take home, learn and get ideas from.
My First Book Signings
The personal highlight of the event was undoubtedly my first book signing sessions. I had the opportunity to sign copies of both Full Stack FastAPI, React, and MongoDB (2nd Edition) and Mastering MongoDB 7.0, published by MongoPress and Packt.
Sitting at that table, meeting readers face to face, was something I hadn't fully prepared myself for emotionally. Developers and enthusiasts came up: some had questions, others just wanted to say thanks and shake hands —and every interaction reminded me why I started writing in the first place.
The Community
Beyond the sessions and signings, what made the event truly special was the energy in the room. The enthusiasm was contagious. Conversations flowed naturally—about projects, challenges, features, and ideas. I connected with developers, architects, and fellow Champions from different backgrounds and industries, all united by a shared interest in MongoDB and extending the boundaries.
Looking Back
MongoDB Local London 2024 was my introduction to this community in its physical form, and it exceeded all expectations. It confirmed something I had suspected: the MongoDB community isn't just technically excellent—it's genuinely welcoming and passionate, with a culture of inclusivity.
I left London inspired, grateful, and already looking forward to the next one.
